A native of Maine, Sandra graduated from the University of Connecticut as a physical therapist. After a career spanning 22 years, she moved with her husband to a farm in rural Oregon. There, she started gardening, leading to her second career as the owner of a retail plant nursery. After moving to Sedona she discovered a love of painting, starting her third career as an artist, beginning in watercolor and branching out to include oils and ceramics. She has studied with Eric Weigardt, William Scott Jennings, Pat Weaver, Betty Carr, Sue Archer, Carl Dalio, Quang Ho C.W. Mundy, Nancy Guzik, Gretchen Lopez and Dennis Ott. She is a juried member of the Northern AZ Watercolor Society. She now paints mostly in watercolor.

Her paintings have been in several non-juried shows and have been accepted into the SAC Juried Members’ Exhibitions since 2009, winning awards in watercolor in 2009 and 2010. She has also been accepted into the NAWS juried spring show since 2010, winning a Merit Award with her painting ‘Concerned Cat‘. Teaching watercolor, another great joy, has been added to her repertoire starting in late 2010.
