Join art enthusiast Anne Connor for this exciting lecture on “In Search of Light” The Danish Skagen Painter and from Spain, Joaquin Sorolla. 

The Skagen painters were attracted by Skagen’s village community, its seascapes and culture, all far removed from the effects of industrialization on city life. By adopting the plein-air approach, the painters were able to create their works in the open, immediately capturing the special effects of light and color on their subjects.

At the same time Joaquin Sorolla excels at genre scenes combining realism and lyricism and progressively focuses on beach scenes bathed by the brilliant light of Southern Spain.  His style has been described as impressionist, post-impressionist or even luminist.

This lecture will take place at Mountain Artist Guild, Main Level Workshop area from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, there will be a powerpoint slideshow presentation and she will offer students time for questions.
